Happy Halloween Pumpkin Carvings

Happy Halloween! Carving pumpkins can truly be taken to the next level with your Cricut!
I started by choosing several designs and replaced the cutting blade with a Cricut Marker. I used Pumpkin Carvings.
Then I taped the designs to the pumpkins and traced the design using a fine point, poking the whole design.  Then I took a small knife and followed the pattern.
Finally I added LED tea lights to the pumpkins.  So cool and so fun! Plus very easy! Have a spooky Halloween with lots of treats and not too many tricks!

Spooky Shaker Card- Tutorial, Blog Hop, and Free Gypsy File

I love adding dimension and interactivity to my projects.  A shaker card has both!  Today I am sharing this card not only with my loyal readers but also with the readers of Bug Bytes Halloween Challenge Blog Hop. If you are following the hop in order you should have come from Sabriolet Designs.
If you would like to start at the beginning of the hop, please visit my dear friend Pam at The Bug Bytes. She is the hostess and has all the links as well as an chance for you to link your projects!
I started by using my Gypsy with Ornamental Iron 2.  This cartridge is a recent addition to my collection.  I have deep love for Ornamental Iron so it's no wonder that I have a passion for this cartridge.
I laid my paper out on my mat. All the my papers are from Teresa Collins Haunted Hallows. The acetate is from my stash. I bought this TC collection in both 6 by 6 and 12 by 12. The collection is doublesided and oh so fabulous!!!!
The file cuts the rectangle window, the frame, the blackout, and the shadow.

I inked the dges of the scrolling frame with Black Soot Distress Ink.  I used Vellum adhesive form Tombo to adhere the acetate to the back inside of the framing.
ext I flipped the peice over and used 3d Foam strips to make a border. The tricky part on this card is there is not much border space.  It took me a few tries to get it right.
Next I poured orange and black micro beads into the frame.  Then I placed the blackout shadow to "close" the shaker portion.  I then flipped it back over.
Next I did hand-pleating with some black lace.
I made my card base into an A2.
Finally I added the shadow cut to the back of the shaker and then mounted the shaker to the card.
Here are some action shots of the card,
As always I love followers and comments, so thank you for taking the time to comment and subscribe.
So your next stop is back to the beginning at The Bug Bytes. I hope you have a creative day! Make sure you check back this weekend and all next week.  I will featuring lots of Halloween Projects to get in the spirit of the upcoming holiday!

Turkey Day Card

With Halloween around the corner, I thought I may start making a few Thanksgiving cards for family members who I won't get to see over the holiday.  This card is quick and easy.  I did use my Imagine for the card but the cool technique I used on the turkey couls easily be adapted to several legacy cartridges that offer turkey images.
I started by cutting the image and layers at 4 inches. It is from Enjoy the Seasons.
I inked all the edges of every cut with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.
Next I used Simply Everything from Pink By Design. to stamp the sentiment.  I laid the sentiment in a slight bend to follow the curve of the banner.
Then I used the little leaf image that is included on the set to detail the ends. I love when Pink By Design adds small images on sentiment sets.
I then started work on my turkey.  I took the layer for the tail feathers and I made a slight accordion fold and followed the bends. I hot glued the end onto the turkey base.
Then I added all my other layers to finally crate my dimensional turkey.
Finally I mounted the turkey to the card base.  I used Kraft brown paper for the base.  Teh printed background paper is from Me and My Big Ideas.
Super easy but lots of dimension! I have you have a creative day!

Outta This World Card

Yesterday I posted a masculine card.  I had many readers email and post that they have trouble with masculine cards. So I thought I would give another card for inspiration in the guy department. I used a sketch to participate in the Cricut Circle Blogiversary Challenge.  The sketch was made by Cindy Royal. The sketch had a very feminine feel. So I kept the same geometric shapes and placement but put a masculine spin on it.
I started with some printed scraps from JT that were from another project. I added the bottom strip first.

Then I added the top strip.
Next I added the middle strip.
Then I stamped this sentiment from Pink By Design Oh Boy. It reads "Outta This World"
Then I cut these two images from Just A Note at 2.5 inches Real Size Off. They were cut from Grungepaper.
Then I used Distress Stain in Black Soot and Peeled Paint to color the Grungepaper.
Then I dug into my metal findings and discovered a bag of washers and bolts.
I added one large one to the center of the clack circle.
I adhered the three washers to the top.
Then I added a washer with a hex bolt cap on to the spiral.
Overall, this was an easy quick card. I hope this card gives you some more ideas for cards or layouts for those special guys in your life.

A Father Carries Pictures Card

This is my first time trying to do a Monochromatic project.  I usually avoid using all the same tones or shades so my project has variety.  So this card was especially challenging. I had to create depth and dimension while staying in the same color family. I was inspired to try this technique form the Cricut Circle Blogiversary Challenge. Unfortunately, every time I took a picture it made the light brown look more off white than brown.  In real life the cream parts are really light brown.I chose to use Vintage Papers from Imagine Colors and Patterns.
The backgrounds are the 8.5 by 11 rectangle in the built in shapes at 4.3 inches.  I filled the rectangles with patterns from Vintage Papers.
The bracket frame image is from Imagine More Cards.  I used cached patterns from Vintage Papers to change the colors.  The image was cut 3.0 inches.
I took a found button and added it to the center.of the printed image.
Next I trimmed my rectangles to be my mats on my card.
I measured and trimmed some stretchy lace. I added it to the bottom of the card.
Next I stamped the sentiment.  This one is from Pink By Design "Our Fathers". It reads "A father carries pictures where is money used to be".
Finally I added my image to my card.
I trimmed the excess ribbon and mounted to the card base.  I hope this card energizes you to try a new way of selecting color. Have a creative day!
