USA Freedom Card- Sneak Peak

With summer coming soon I am so excited to get to play with patriotic themed scrappy stuff.  This card was so much fun to make! I just got this stamp set in the mail from Pink By Design.  You are getting a sneak peek of this fabulous set Independence Day.  It is not being released until May 5th during the Ustream event with Sarah.
I started by heat embossing with Snowflake Powder form Ranger with Pink By Design Swirl Curls background stamp.  Then using some of the stars and bursts from Independence Day, I stamped the images randomly on top of the already heat embossed swirls.  I sprinkled and removed my embossing powder in Silver, Red, and Blue Glitter from Zing!
Next I cut the banner from Independence Day Cricut Cartridge at 1.75 inches.  I punched holes to feed the ribbon through.
I stamped the USA from the Pink By Design Independence Day set.  I stamped the image 3 times, embossing in Red, Silver and Blue Zing powder. I then cut out a U, S, A from each color.  I pop dotted the letters on the banner.
Then I mounted the banner to the card and tied the ribbon through a hole oon each side of the card.
My next step was to cut the word "Freedom" from Independence Day Cricut Cartridge at 1.25 inches.  Finally I made a looped bow to mount on the bottom.  I found this ribbon at Michaels last year on clearance!
Here are some close ups. Remember you can always click on a pic to enlarge it and see more details!
I hope enjoyed you sneak peek at one of the amazing sets from Pink By Design that is being released on May 5th. You won't want to miss it!  As a celebration of the releases on May 5th, Sarah has graciously donated a background stamp for me to give away to one of my readers.  If you want to be entered please leave a comment on any post dated April 29- May 1.
I will draw a name on May 2! This is the Gingham stamp set she is giving to one lucky reader!

Happy Mother's Day with Pink By Design

Mother's Day is around the corner!!! So today I am sharing at Pink By Design for Design Team Friday.  This card is fairly easy to make.  I have a trick to show you to make sure your sentiments lineup in a frame too!
I started by cutting the doily from Lori's Garden at 4.0 inches in Layers and the frame at 2.0 inches Combines.  It inked all the edges with Antique Linen Distress Ink.
Next I used an embroidery needle and some metallic off white DMC floss.  Thsi Doily cuts a ring of holes near the center.  So I took my needle and thread and used a backstitch to stitch the ring of holes.
I stacked the layers leaving one of the middle layers out.  I use pop dots to raise a few layers.
This is how I stamp in a frame.  I take my frame and place it on my card or layout.  Then using a pencil, I make 4 marks for the top, bottom, and both sides. I remove the frame, stamp the sentiment, erase the pencil marks, and Ta Da! All done!
Finally I adhered all layers and tied a sheer ribbon to the corner. This sentiment is from Pink By Design "Our Mothers".
I love this doily cut! Lori's Garden is such an amazing Imagine cartridge.  If you do not have this cartridge or an Imagine, the new cartridge Damask Decor has similar styles that could be cut from patterned paper.
Ok so this next week on May 5 is a new release and Ustream event for May release from Pink by Design! I have seen some sneaks of the upcoming sets and they are AWESOME! So to get the party started, Sarah from Pink By Design is giving one of my readers the Gingham Background stamp.(Plus her birthday is next week!) Just leave a comment on this post telling me what is your dream birthday gift! Also make sure you are signed up as a follower or subscriber.  I will draw a winner on Sunday night and announce on Monday May 2.

My Teresa Collins Timeless Book

Teresa Collins is by far one of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I was very fortunate to get to take 2 of her classes in Dallas at the Cricut Stampede. The first class I took was Timeless. This class was phenomenal! Teresa is such an open and caring person.  She gave direction but left much of the project open for our own interpretation.  I love the results! Remember you can enlarge any pictures by clicking on them.
There are so many photos after this video! So make sure you scroll down!

This 8 1/2 by 11 album was made using the YourStory book binding machine and laminator.  I rarely use my YourStory but after taking this class, I am so inspired to us it more!
The cuts on this album are from the new Cricut Imagine cartridge Baby Boutique. This cartridge will not just be for baby stuff.  As you can see I used pictures of my boys.
The class kit was chocked full of yumminess.
We had an opportunity to use her stamps
The embellishments and ribbons are from Timeless and Blingage.
I used some left over mirrored paper scraps to make a rosette.  Then I added some Blingage to the center.
I mounted the back page to the cover.  The page is black velvet paper.  So elegant!
The whole book can stand and act as home decor piece. Mine is on my mantle.  Even though the colors are feminine at first glance, you can see how the theme of the cartridge can be used even for boys. Here is a link to Teresa Collins' blog. http://teresacollins.typepad.com/  I love her writing and posts! As always, I appreciate the comments and for following me! HUGS!

Wish Layout

Layouts are not my strong point but I feel if I keep trying I will get better.  I don't know that I will ever be able to do cutesy stuff- That's not me. So here is my entry into the Cricut 5th Anniversary Challenge.  They were looking for Birthday Layouts.  I mailed this layout off to ProvoCraft today, in hopes of winning an E2. The paper is huge part of this layout.  It is Sassafrass Cherrylicious.  I found it when I cleaned up last week and thinned my stash! What a find!
(I am going to apologize for the lack of quality in these pics.  My studio is under remodeling so my lighting is all torn up.  I can't wait to show it off next week though!)
It was made with Base Camp for WISH at 1 inch (REAL SIZE ON) and the Damask and coordinating blackout was cut at 10 inches (REAL SIZE OFF).  Under the "Wish" I used some corrugated cardboard and several paint dabbers to make it look splattered and distressed.  I added several ribbon to the top. The border on the bottom was part of the paper.  I trimmed it off and added pop dots.
Overall, it is not a complicated layout but I love the look and feel of it.  As always thanks for leaving comments and following me!

Damask Decor Handbag- Jenny's Big Birthday Blog-aversary

I am so carrying this bag out the next time my husband and go on a date! It is so elegant yet very trendy! Today I am in Crazy About Circut's Blog hop: Jenny's Big Birthday Blog-Aversary Blog Hop. You can either start here or go back to Jenny's blog at Crazy About Cricut and start from the beginning of the hop.
So now on to the details of this very cute handbag.  I started with a naked chipboard purse I bought who knows when.  I have been organizing all week and found it in drawer. Well all week I was having trouble deciding what to make to celebrate Jenny's Birthday.  She loves red so I went with that and RAN!  This paper is from GCD Chianti Collection.  I started by inking the edges of the white chipboard with Chalk ink from Versa Magic is Red Magic.
Then I traced all the sides and edges onto the backside of my paper.  I heart GCD paper.  It is such high quality.  It works great for projects like this. Remember you click on any pic and enlarge to see more detailed pictures.
Once everything was traced I cut out all the pieces.
Then I used PVA, which is kind of like Modge Podge, and sealed the paper to box. It starts out white and creamy but dries clear.
Once everything had dried, I adhered a velcro dot to the underside of the flap to close the purse.
Then I cut this Damask from Damask Decor Cricut Cartridge at 4.5 inches.  I cut it from both paper and from thin chipboard.  I painted the chipboard on both sides and on the inside of the cuts as well.
Once the chipboard was dried, I used spray adhesive to mount the paper cut on top of the chipboard.  I then adhered the cut to the front lip of the box.  Because I layered the damask it is actually quite sturdy.
My final touch on the front was a button I found in my stash.  I hot glued it to the center.
To make the handle, I used my Crop A Dile and punch two holes into the top of the purse.  I fed some red boa through the holes, hot gluing them ends to the box.
I just love how the whole project looks.  I know I have shown 2 Damask Decor projects in a row, so I apologize.  But seriously this is my second favorite Cricut Cartridge of all time (French Manor is #1).
I am so happy you took time to stop by today! Make sure you are leaving comments because I will be drawing a name for Cricut Cartridge Calligraphy Collection on Monday. Here's the details:

Simple Elegance Easter Card

Today is Design Team Friday at Pink By Design and this is my submission.  Last week I broke down and bought Damask Decor.  I am so happy I listened to my friend Joy at Obsessed with Scrapbooking.  She was right.  This is one of the best cartridges in the last 12 months.
This card will be my Easter card this year.  Since I will be mailing these I wanted and needed them to be flat. I started by choosing my cardstock from Gemstone Coredinations. I sized my card base to 5.5 inches (real size off).  I then sized the top layer at 5.5 inches (real size off).  I cut the banner from Heritage at 2.0 inches (real size off).
I sprayed the top layer with adhesive and placed in on the card base.
I stamped the sentiment "Happy Easter" from Pink By Design set "Spring Has Sprung."
Since the banner had a bit of a curve, I placed my stamp on my block in a curved position.  I had never tried this before, but I love the results.
I tied a gorgeous silk and gold ribbon along the side.
I will say that next time I make one of the Damask Decor I may use Hide Selected Contour and remove the scoremarks.  They were a little bigger than I like personally. I do this on Just Because Cards also.
Remember to leave comments! I am drawing a lucky winner next Monday for the Calligraphy Collection Cartridge.  Sign up as a follower or subscriber and then leave a comment on any post dated April 11-18.  Make sure you set aside some time this weekend to stop by for a small Blog Hop celebrating my friend Jenny's Birthday and Blogoversary.
