Sparkle sparkle! When I am making large projects such as mini albums, I usually use what I call "Ugly Paper" for my practice cuts. Frequently these are the last sheets of a stack that I have used for a large project.
Last week I made a mini album. The cuts I made from Ornamental Iron 2 were beautiful even out of my test cuts. These cuts were so pretty, I couldn't just toss them. So I got super creative and did some paper altering.
I started by covering the paper with gesso. Gesso is a primer of sorts that artists use on canvases. It covers so well and can be used on paper. The trick is to use a nice even thing coat and allow to dry throughly before going further.
Then I used blue acrylic paint on the shadow cut and allowed to dry.
After the paint dried, I covered the inside of my Cuttlebug folder with silver ink and embossed the paper.
Using Krylon Spray Adhesive, I coated the top layer with a smooth layer of adhesive. I then sprinkled microfine white glitter on top and shook off the excess.
I set aside my cuts and began work on the card base. I folded and A2 from navy blue cardstock. I then stamped with Pink By Design Swirls and Curls Background with Versamark. I then sprinkled both a glittered white opaque and a navy blue iridescent powder. I heat set the powder and allowed to cool.
Next I tried the new die from Pink By Design. I love this tag! This is the sandwich I made to cut with my Cuttlebug. From bottom to top: A plate, C plate, chipboard shim, paper (right side up), die (edged side down), B Plate
Next I took a snowflake embellishment and some twine and threaded the twine through the snowflake.
Then I heat embossed with Adirondak Denim embossing powder this sentiment from Winter Fun from Pink By Design. After embossing, I punched a hole through the top.
Next I took my snowflake and twine and threaded the hole in the tag.
I set aside my snowflake tag and made a flat wrap ribbon bow. I have made these bows before and they are so easy and can go on layouts, cards,a dn altered art. You can use any width of ribbon too. Here is the video on how to make these bows.

I then took the snowflake tag and tied the twine around the center of the bow.
I adhered my cuts to the card using pop dots between the layers.

I would never have thought to use gesso on paper! I always thought it would be too wet/heavy. TFS this great idea.
This is impressive! I love the colors you chose to cover the "ugly" paper! What a beautiful card. Thanks for a great video!
