You and Me 3D Heart

You and Me. I love this sentiment! I think this project is such a fun and easy way to combine my Cricut into Home Decor.
I always see these inexpensive paper mache shapes at Hobby Lobby.  I snagged a few of these hearts to decorate.  This is such a quick and easy project with endless possibilities.  The next time they are on sale I am going to stock up.
I stated with acrylic paints. I painted one coat of a metallic red paint.

Then I used a sponge brush to swirl and dab pink acrylic paint on the front and edges of the heart.
Next I grabbed my newest stamp set from Unity called Growing in Unity.  This set has some awesome flourishes.
I chose to use these two flourishes.  I placed them side by side to create the effect of a larger stamp.  Unity stamps are cling mounted, so all you need is an acrylic block to stamp.
I then took a sponge and dabbed the stamp with white acrylic paint. The trick to stamping with paint is not to overload the stamp with medium.
I placed the stamp randomly all over the heart.
Then I took the same sponge and dabbed a bit more white on the edges. While the paint dried, I moved to work with my Cricut.
Then I cut two identical hearts from Love Struck at 1.82 inches.
I also cut these tags from Plantin Schoolbook at 1.25 inches. I chose to use my Pink By Deisgn stamps in Love Always.  I chose to use the sentiment "You and Me".
I inked the dges with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink and stamped my sentiment.
The acrylic paint dries pretty fast. Once I knew it was dried, I used another flourish from Growing in Unity, and stamped with Black Ink.
I placed the stamp randomly and did not stamp as many times I had with the white.
Finally I sprayed some of the permanent Crafter's Companion spray (red can) to the back of the cuts.  I placed them on either side of the heart and then coated the heart with Glossy Modge Podge.
To attach the tag, I cut the gold string and slid the tag on and then retied the gold string.
