Cheers to a New Year!

I have been so busy that I can hardly believe the year is coming to an end.  I thought this card would be fitting.  This one is a little more complicated than what I intended it to be.  The design I created was not only inspired by the new year, but also the fact that I do not own From My Kitchen.  The only reason I wanted this cartridge was for the Martini Glass.  So instead of forking over $40, I decided to my Gypsy girl to work.  The shaped portion of the design is entirely from Doodlecharms.  The lettering is from Gypsy Font.  I cut out the images of the glass on Acetate.  For the olive I used some lime green cardstock and maroon red for the pimento.  The straw and the 2009 have been cut from silver poster board.  Once I had the images cut, I assembled the olive and straw.  I then took my Versamark pen and "colored" a shape of a triangle for the bubbly on the backside of the acetate martini glass..  Then I heat embossed Enchanted Gold embossing powder over the Versamark. Then I added some Art Glitter Glue here and there inside the glass and sprinkled some shredded styrofoam over the wet adhesive.  Once it was dry I adhered the olive shape to the back of the acetate as well as the 2010 with the Vellum Tombo (that way no adhesive shows through the clear portion of the glass).  Finally I added pop dots in a few places. The cardstock was embossed with my Sizzix Texture Boutique but the folder is ProvoCraft. The inside has a saying of "Cheers" which was welded using Gypsy Font.  I have the gypsy files available for sharing if you like.  I have to say this is a great way to end the year and maybe I will buy a bottle of yummy champagne to celebrate saving $40. (Side note: I will remake this Gypsy file  with George and Basic Shapes whenever it decides to get here from Cricut Rewards for those who do not have Doodlecharms.)

Snowy Days for A Child's Year

This card was made using A Child's Year Cartridge.  I used 3D dots to pop up the image as well as Liquid applique for the snow under the feet.  Then I used Icicle Stickles to add some glitter.
Thanks for looking.

Merry and Bright Place Settings

Ok, this is my last place setting until Easter! I once again used the $1 chipboard albums from Michael's.  They have been painted with Acrylic paint.  On this one I chose to use my lovely Gypsy for the wording.  I welded The words "Merry & Bright" together.  I used Font cartridge Alphalicious.  I ran the welded cut through my Xyron and laid it on the the dry chipboard.  I used the cupcake holder from Sweet Treats assembled and turned upside down to stand the star up.  I have the Gypsy file available for sharing if you are interested. Run Little Gingerbread Man Place Settings

I bought these chipboard albums at Michael's off the $1 rack.  I removed the binder ring that was holding them together.  Painted each one with acrylic paint.  Once they were dry, I stamped the face with PeachyKeen Stamps. using Staz-On Black.  Then I took my opaque white pen and filled the eyes to make them pop. For the rosy cheeks, I used a sponge with bright red ink and dabbed each area until I thought it looked right.  For the stitching I used white Liquid Applique that I heated with my embossing gun.  I really love the 3D effect of the stitching.  In order to get him up on his feet, I used Sweet Treats cupcake holder assembled and turned upside down. "Sew" Easy Winter Wishes Album

This album is a 15 minute quickie! I love searching though the bins of dollar items at Michael's and Archiver's.  I found these super cute mittens at Archiver's.  I painted the albums whimsical bubble gum pink with Acrylic paint.  Once the paint was dry, I went to work on my faux stitching.  I do not have a steady hand, so I first took my white pen and carefully drew faux stitching.  I took Liquid Applique and drew on top of my faux stitching.  To give the Applique a 3D effect, I applied heat from my embossing gun until it became raised. (If you choose to apply heat to Liquid Applique, be sure not to hold it too long in front of the heat or it will burn and turn brown! Yuck!)   Then I smeared a thin layer of glue onto the cuff of the mitten.  Then I took "fake"snow flakes (from the x-mas department at Hobby Lobby) and sprinkled them into the glue.  Once those were dry, I glued 5 white pom poms on to the cuff.  finally, I used my Gypsy Font to weld the words "Winter Wishes".  I cut the phrasing out of thick flocked cardstock. It took 5 times multicut to get all the way through.  I love how quick and easy this project was.  I also want to say Thank You to Samantha at Just Buggin' for having a challenge this week that made me dig a little deeper into my creativity!  If you have not been to her site yet, give it a try.  There is a blinkie at the top of my blog to click on.  Have great night and enjoy!

Sweet Sweet Serenade

This was submission to the Cricut and YourStory Challenge.  The entire album is made from Serenade and Plantin Schoolbook. The cover and blackouts were made with my Gypsy. I cut the cover from metallic poster board.  Removed the cutting, and cut the "reverse of the image" on another piece of poster board. Then I cut a blackout image (created with Serenade and Plantin Schoolbook) of the birdcage on patterned paper. Once again I also cut a reverse image and glued them together. I also cut a small bird from Serenade and glued it to the front of the album blackout.  I then glued the blackouts to the front- inside of the cover.  Then I applied glue to the back inside of the reverse image and glued it to the cover.  I scored the binding in at 1/8" on either side.  I used 5x7 Artist canvases for the pages.  Each canvas was painted with acrylic paint.  On the opposite side I glued coordinated paper cut to 5x7 on the other side. Once the album was complete, I ran a small strip of hot glue down the middle of the binding, placed the pages into the glue, and then bound the book with YourStory. I then cut several die cuts, all from Serenade. finally I embellished the front with glitter and ribbon.   The album only takes about 30 minutes to assemble.  It stands on its own as piece of beautiful home decor or as gorgeous album.
